Dedicate my first post to my inspiration within photography and art, Leslie Kee.
Born and raised in Singapore by a single mother, however when she passed at a fairly young age raised by his aunt. He worked hard whilst he was young saving up money for a camera and to go backpacking.
He to me is an explorer, an explorer with a 35mm camera; he backpacked for many years of his life all over Asia, in such countries as Vietnam, Laos, Nepal, India and Thailand, capturing documentary images and portraits of children.
He studied In Japan and graduated from the school of Visual Arts at the University of Tokyo, studying photography and gaining a bachelors degree in 1997.
His photography to me defers from many other photographs I researched about, I find myself always referring to his work for inspiration. Kee’s portraiture is amazing, the way he captures a subject is so DOPE. I think for me personally it’s how he captures people’s eyes whether closed or open there is a huge amount of passion which he is able to capture. Kee’s fashion portraiture is UBER DOPE, ah I can not put into words; I believe this is what he is famous for.
He has worked with many celebrities within Asia and America, he acutely moved to New York and to join a top creative agency in 2002 and began working with a range of American celebrities.
From this point I believe he was becoming a global photography from Europe to Asia. Leslie and too this day continues to work actively. Leslie Kee will always be one of my creative inspirations.
When I photograph personally I love when eyes are emotive and strong, I believe I got such attributes from Leslie Kee’s work. I hope to explore the world also with my camera and capture many amazing DOPE photographs.
I hope Kee continues to photograph, I’ll be supporting and inspired by all his work.
