[MIXTAPE] Dumbfoundead – We Might Die
So its been a while since we had some new music from Dumb and boy am I happy. He is legit my favourite rapper. Im so ready for his next global tour and I’m ready to meet him again when I’m like sober cause last time I met him in NY I was just talking tipsy nonsense with my friend haha (good times but I looked terrible)
So anyway I just wanted to discuss a couple of tracks from the mixtape:
Yo ‘All In’ is hype I love the feature from KOHH It was my first time hearing something from him and I was like wtf is this but his flow was dope the Japanese sounded insane; amaze. I was super excited to listen to ‘Banned From The Motherland’ as it features a lot of our favs. Simon Dominic sounds sexy as always, Jay Park but I personally prefer when sings but he went on his verse also ironic cause like banned…jay park LOL anyway I’ll move on. G2 is just raw as hell, you can tell he’s from the SOUTH (Texas) he has that vibe about him , he really just goes ham on a beat, no holding back.
I like G2 a lot more after watching CheyenneKpop‘s interview with him check it OUT!
[AUDIOBOOK] Issa Rae – The misadventures of Awkward Black Girl (New York Times bestseller)
Reading is good and I need to do more of it but I love having an audiobook to listen to while I do…whatever. I had really wanted to read the misadventures of Awkward Black Girl but kept putting it off until I thought let me give Issa my coin and purchase the audiobook version on iTunes and if it’s read by Issa the author thats a bonus and It was so wooo!
Every chapter covers a part of her life, basically her memoirs and it is truly amazing to hear about regular black girl struggles. She begins with an introduction at the start of the book saying ‘whether your an awkward black girl or confident white guy’ letting you know that there is something for everyone to take from this book and I would definitely agree.
Chapter one ‘A/S/L’ literally was my life growing up I laughed so much listening to it and seriously no matter who you are you can definitely relate to a chapter in the book. She covers everything from dating, to her parents to her career and its inspirational. I really admire her drive and so happy to hear that her TV show Insecure has been renewed for Season 2 YAAAS! I loved this audio book, growing up I would say I was a somewhat awkward black girl with he interesting name too and I just think its dope that she presents another version of black females in the media that isn’t the typical ‘black female’.
I remember coming across Issa 6 years ago I finally felt like someone like me was represented me on YouTube and It made me so happy. The AWKWARD Black Girl series was my everything haha I know I say that all the time but seriously, thank you Issa.
[THROWBACK KOREAN SINGLE] Reddy – Think (Featuring Jay Park)
I was listening to Jay Parks new album at a friends house (which is pretty alright itself) and a friend was like ‘but have you heard his track with Reddy ‘ and I was like what NOOO. Reddy is BAE like Reddy is FINE damn.
Anyway I digress, I’ve had this song on repeat for the past month and even though it came out way back in February, I am all about the chill vibes and how Jay Park sweet voice compliments Reddy’s rapping; love it.
